We’ve heard from many Time Trackers users that it would be helpful to have a BlackBerry application for tracking time spent on customer work. Two weeks ago we released TimeCatcher as a new way to track time with your BlackBerry. The application is free, and it does not require a QuickBooks Time Tracker account.

The vision for TimeCatcher is to automatically capture time you’ve spent on customer work. You can convert phone calls and appointments, manually enter a specific amount of time, and use a timer. TimeCatcher replaces Time Tracker for BlackBerry, which was a private application we tested with select Time Tracker customers.

Please note: TimeCatcher does not currently integrate with QuickBooks Time Tracker or QuickBooks seamlessly. TimeCatcher exports timesheet data as a spreadsheet attached to an email. To get your data into QB Time Tracker and QuickBooks, you will have to manually enter time data from the spreadsheet into your software.

Our latest release includes many bug fixes and general stability enhancements for Time Tracker for Outlook.  It also does a better job handling certain errors and presents customers with more information on how to resolve them.  Existing users of Time Tracker for Outlook will be forced to install the new version.

It has been a long time coming, but we are finally there.  I am pleased to announce we now support the Safari 3.0 browser.  Thank you all for your input and patience along the way.   Please continue to share your feedback as it is making its way into our priority list and vision for the future.

PS:  We have also stopped blocking unsupported browsers from visiting our pages.  You are now welcome to use your preferred browser, but it is at your own risk.  (We are having good luck with Chrome!)

Our latest release is very exciting!  While there aren’t any new features per se, we have made some great stability enhancements and did a lot of work to update our infrastructure to set the stage for improved browser support and performance.  Specifically, Firefox 3 is now officially supported with more in the works.

Hello, Time Tracker for Outlook users!

We’re excited to announce that the new version of Time Tracker for Outlook has some new features that you have requested:

• Notes from Subject or Body fields: There’s a new option in the Options dialog box that lets you pick whether you want your Notes to come from when you send an appointment or email message to Time Tracker. Now you can choose to grab your Notes from the Subject field (as before), or from the Body field.
   
• Save non-billable time entries without customer jobs or service items: Previously, both billable and non-billable time entries were required to have customer jobs and service items. You can still specify them if you wish, but they are no longer required for non-billable entries.

What is it?

The Time Tracker team at Intuit would like to introduce
Time Tracker for Microsoft Outlook, a cool new application that we
developed.

You can:

• Bill for time directly from your Outlook calendar
      
• Capture time as you work
      
• Download time entries to QuickBooks Time Tracker automatically

Then you can send it all to the Time Tracker service for the back office to process.

What problem did we solve?

Many time trackers also use Microsoft Outlook.  Most of their
billable time is already recorded on their calendar in the form of
meetings, scheduled jobs, and email messages.  Time Tracker for
Microsoft Outlook allows these time trackers to bill for their time
directly from Outlook, without having to re-enter that time in a a
separate timesheet.  They simply highlight a calendar entry or email
message, fill in some basic information, then send it to the Time
Tracker service.  If a new time entry is required, entering basic
information in an easy-to-complete form is all that it takes to record
and send it.

Why is it designed the way it is?

The key to making time entry attractive to professionals is making
it quicker and easier than recording time manually.   Creating a time
entry with Time Tracker for Microsoft Outlook is as easy as sending an
email.   The time entry form was designed by billing professionals for
billing professionals, with features to make entering time nearly
seamless.

 You can even edit time entries directly from your calendar.

Let’s say you have an email message in your In box that you’d like
to bill a customer for.  You highlight the email, click Send to Time
Tracker, fill out some basic information, and it’s on its way to the
Time Tracker server.

If you need to edit an entry before it’s downloaded into QuickBooks,
you can do that directly from Time Tracker for Microsoft Outlook.
